Third Annual Autism MVP Walk: New Location, More Activities, Same Local Support - Atlantic Highlands Herald

Narrowing the autism spectrum, one educator, one program, one day at a time.

With the help of local families and businesses, the Autism MVP Foundation is making an impact on the lives of students on autism spectrum and the New Jersey educators training to teach them.  This year’s fundraising walk is getting a new beach-side location, more complimentary food and fun for the kids, all in support of the Autism Program Improvement Project with Monmouth University and a Scholarship Program launching later this year.

  • What: The Third Annual Autism MVP Walk, a day of family fun with activities for kids, complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and donuts, a no-pressure 2-mile walk along a beach-side boardwalk and a post-event celebration complete with buffet lunch provided by Leggett’s Sand Bar. 
  • Who:  The Autism MVP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Keith Green of Little Silver, N.J. who, along with his wife Donna, have been inspired by their young son with autism and the educators and therapists who have helped make a difference in their lives.  The foundation is committed to honoring, recognizing and creating the most valuable professionals in the field. 

o   The Autism MVP Foundation has partnered with the Monmouth University School of Education to fund a model teacher and paraprofessional training program to educate and engage children on the autism spectrum. 

o   The event is made possible by sponsors Circle BMW, Circle Hyundai, Allstate Agent Vincent Scanelli, Hackensack Meridian Health and WRAT 95.9, which will also be broadcasting live from the event

  • When: Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 – Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; Walk at 11am; Post-Event Celebration Starts at 12pm
  • Where: Arrive at Leggett’s Sand Bar – 217 1st Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736 
  • How: Participants may purchase tickets in advance at http://www.autismmvp.org/news-and-events.html or on-site
  • Cost: $30 for adults, $20 for students, $10 for children 12 and under
  • Other: 100% of proceeds from the walk will support professionals in the field of autism education, including the groundbreaking Autism Program Improvement Project with Monmouth University and the Autism MVP Foundation Scholarship Program launching this year.
